Acoustic Insulation Foam is Perfect for Home Theater Installation
November 15th, 2009By Brad Collins
Acoustic foam insulation is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to insulate a home theater. Most homeowners spend tons of money creating the home theater of their dreams. Expensive equipment that performs beautifully but can unfortunately be heard in every room of your home is certainly a problem. Soundproofing does not have to be expensive or difficult especially if you choose to install acoustic insulation foam products. Foam products are sold in many forms including panels, boards, tiles, and even floor mats. The most important thing to remember about insulation is that it may not necessarily be very attractive to look at but in most cases it is very effective at creating a barrier that can help keep sounds in a room and exteriors sounds out. Most products also improve the sound quality of your electronics. Televisions, stereos, and surround sound systems sound much better in a room that is properly insulated.
There are many ways in which you can install soft or rigid foam insulation in your home theater. For instance, soft or rigid board acoustic insulation materials can be purchased in panels or boards that enable you to cover the walls, ceiling, and floors in your home theater. The panels come in various sizes, shapes, colors, and even textures so you can get as creative as you like in the installation process. Many products are however, plain or ugly to look at so you will need to cover them with fabric or some other kind of decorative material. Spray foam insulation is not a good idea for this application because it can get messy and you will need to rent out the required equipment. You will also need to follow the instructions carefully in order to cover all of the surfaces evenly. Spray insulation is more intended for applications that occur during the construction of a room or home.
Acoustic styrofoam insulation is a fairly new product with many companies embarking on the use of recycled materials to create such products. Styrofoam panels work well for soundproofing but the materials can be more costly to purchase and transform because they also weigh more than foam. Most products can however be purchased in bulk at a discounted price so the more you buy the less you pay overall. Use the internet to find available insulation materials and bulk ordering. Some companies even offer free shipping with bulk orders so ordering large amounts is definitely beneficial.
